First Place Winner CIPA EVVY AWARD in autobiography/memoirShe spends her days caring for and visiting the terminally ill. But in the pre-dawn hours, sometimes Linda Kinnamon’s patients pay her a visit instead. Whether it’s perfume drifting though a room, or a touch on the shoulder, the strength of spirit displayed at the end of life is as unique as the individual. Alchemy of the Afterlife is the story of life after death told from a nurse’s perspective. Based on Linda’s childhood as an orphan and her career in hospice, this is an uplifting and universal story.“A hopeful, shimmering read. Kinnamon carries us on a journey we will all make someday…a memoir for everyone.”Andra Watkins New York Times best-selling author of Not Without My Father“Those we love never truly leave us. It’s a truth we all accept, but it can be so easy to forget. Alchemy of the Afterlife is a reminder of that, and there’s some healing magic between these pages…”Mia MannsReviewer’s Bookwatch, Midwest Book Review“From the opening chapter, Linda Kinnamon had my attention. She interweaves the details of her personal life, from abuse to fulfillment, with stories from her professional career as a hospice nurse. Her accounts of the near- and after-death events she has witnessed are mesmerizing. Anyone who’s ever questioned ‘what happens next?’ will not be disappointed…”Pat Schudy, former columnist, Universal Press Syndicate

Alchemy of the Afterlife is a MUST READ for anyone with a loved one who is on or nearing hospice care. I had just walked through the hospice journey with both of my elderly parents and my not-so-elderly brother when I first started working with author Linda Kinnamon on this book. As I immersed myself into Linda's delightful writing style, I gained a much deeper understanding of the entire hospice experience and dying process. I wish I had been able to read Alchemy of the Afterlife before my beloveds died. It is enlightening, on so many levels. Yes, I would have done many things differently, better. And yet, I was comforted to see I had done many things well as I watched Linda and her co-workers care for dying patients throughout this intriguing book. In captivating story form, Linda reveals behind-the-scenes drama and the intense demands on hospice workers. She shares riveting near-death and after-death encounters, not only with her patients but in her personal story as well. Interwoven with Linda's hospice nurse journeys is her incredible, traumatic childhood into resilient adulthood story. A gifted writer, Linda makes her readers laugh out loud and stifle somber tears, the ideal blend of humor and heart in a poignant read. This is a "can't put it down," "can't believe I learned so much," "can't wait to share it with loved ones facing hospice" book.
